. another one bites the dust . the weather in the bahamas seemed to be cooler than usual and miranda had taken the opportunity to contact will and invite him to lunch at johnny rockets. she had known will for a long time as they were both attending the same college and studying under the same art of acting. they were close and they could be considered best friends but this little part inside of miranda occasionally wished that they were more than friends. the thought had crossed her mind multiple times but she had shaken the thought out of her head until it was too late, will was not dating amy and she could not help but have the thoughts of them being a couple drift back into her mind.
thanks to the cool weather, miranda stepped outside in a loose gray racer back shirt paired with denim shorts and she was happy that she was not lathered head to toe in spf fifty million since the sun never spared your skin out here. the door closing behind her, she made her way over to the dining area which was still along the coast line but it was harder to access unless you were a local as she was. her family had been coming down here for years, even before she was born and the bahamas was a place she could technically consider her home.
a cool breeze passed by from the ocean, giving miranda a slight sprinkle of sea mist as she inhaled the fresh scent, loving the taste of the salt in her mouth. the ocean was beautiful and yet deadly. but as always, miranda preferred to look at the brighter side of things and always preferred to look at the ocean as a beautiful creation and adoring all the lovely things that lay inside of it as well.
her bike rested against the wall, she unlocked it and climbed aboard, placing the lock in the basket of her beach cruiser as she began to pedal down the board walk. a few of her friends rode up next to her as they chatted about their summers but she parted with them as she turned a sharp corner leading to the dining area. johnny rockets was just ahead and without her phone or watch she did not want to risk messing up their plans and giving him the idea that she had stood him up.
her bike came to a sudden halt as she climbed off, chaining it up to a light pole as she ran inside of johnny rockets. her green eyes scanned the sea of people but will was not here yet. the hostess gave her a suspicious look and miranda realized that she was heavily breathing from rushing over. "oh hi... its jenkins and it is for a party of two." as she followed the hostess to an available booth that had just been cleaned since the smell clorox was clearly noticeable.
miranda slid into the booth, taking a look at the drinks and the food. everything looked delectible but she wanted to wait for will so she ordered a drink instead, "i'll have an arnold palmer please." she said and as the waitress walked off and left miranda alone she somewhat wished that she had her phone to text callie while waiting to cure her case of boredom.

since will was a guest at the resort he had decided it would be nice to go golfing for a change, even if he thought it was the most boring sport. he was into soccer and most times he would rather put a gun against his head than play or evenwatch golf. but he had gotten tired of going to the pool everyday since he couldn’t hit on any women since he was taken and he couldn’t keep the fact from amy if he did hit on other girls. the guilt would eat him alive as always. so, that brought him to the golf course, where he main reason for coming wasn’t even to golf. he just wanted to rent a golf cart and cause some trouble with it. there was a possibility he could get off clean if he attempted to steal a cart rather than renting one, lying and saying he thought that they were free and up for grabs.
he had to think about it, but finally will decided just to pay for the cart. he then grabbed the key to it and got some clubs, starting off to the course where he was just going to practice some shots, not actually playing. he just wanted to go to the driving range, then the cart with him where ever he pleased on the hotel property since he had paid for a few hours. after will had made it to the driving range he took the key out of the golf cart and stuffed it into one of the many pockets that were on his cargo shorts. then the grabbed his bag of clubs and a bucket of golf balls to hit and he began to practice.
when he had used up all of the balls, will pulled out his phone to see what time it was. he was going to be late for his little ‘date’ with miranda, even if she wasn’t his girlfriend. miranda was a friend who, like him, went to pepperdine and was in a few of his acting classes. they had become close friends and he liked hanging out with her. stuffing the phone back in his pocket, william thrust his bag and empty bucket in the back of the cart, then climbed into the driver’s seat, driving off into the distance, near johnny rockets.
he had to be sneaky as he grove past the rental for golf carts and he was stopped. he lied and said he was picking up some of his buddies from the resort so they didn’t have to walk. the worker nodded and told him to go ahead. will sped off again, trying to figure his way to the diner. he knew it was on the beach, but that was all. to keep himself from getting lost he stopped and asked for directions a few times, then finally figured out the correct way to go and soon enough he arrived.
carefully will locked the cart and placed the key in his pocket, deciding the clubs were fine in the back of the golf cart. he felt the nice sea breeze as he walked toward the door of the restaurant, feeling the sand tickle his legs as it got carried away with the wind. he didn’t mind, it was nice to have it cooler than usual due to the fact normally he was melting. as will approached the hostess table he fixed his black v-neck and looked at his “boat shoes.” he messed his medium length hair and asked if a miranda jenkins had arrived. the hostess nodded and pointed him to where she was seated with her drink. will waved as he approached the table, taking a seat across from her. ”hey miranda,” he smiled.

. another one bites the dust . she sat and stirred her iced tea mixed with lemonade as she watched the liquid swirl around, seeing the small bits of pulp rise to the surface and then sink again. her case of boredom had begun until she looked up unexpectedly and saw will standing there. her entire mood changed as her expressionless face turned into a smile as she watched him slide into the booth.
"well hello will... bout time you showed up." giving him a small wink as the waitress returned to collect will's drink and their orders. "i'll have the island burger with an extra big basket of fries." handing the menu to the waitress. miranda was never shy with food, she was constantly hungry. but of course she kept her table manners proper and well filed but some people found it repulsive that she had the appetite of a man. on the other hand, miranda kind of liked having such a big stomach.
the waitress disappeared leaving the two of them alone. sitting there across from will she could not help but savor the moment of being there with him. he was handsome and kind and an amazing actor on top of all those things. she nearly died upon seeing him the first day of classes and especially when they were paired to do a love scene. after that, nothing had ever been the same for her. she might be what some called, 'in love.' but she did not mind the fact that he was taken. while she was single and he was with amy, she had to work much harder to be noticed and she never backed down from any challenge.
"so how are you and amy?" she asked, leaning over to take a sip of her drink, the sweet taste filling her mouth. the clanking of pots and pans and the fries being dipped in grease filled the noisy restaurant and she just loved the entire feeling that they were on a real date... if only he was not taken. it was not that miranda did not like amy, no; not at all. she thought amy was gorgeous and talented and a loving person it was just that she was jealous of the overall fact that someone was dating her love and she had no control of the situation.

”sorry i was a bit late, but i got a sweet ride,” will smiled, thinking about the golf cart he stole to get to miranda. it was worth it, even if he did end up getting in trouble, because who didn’t love stealing golf carts? it was a thrill and in ways reminded him of his childhood, even if he never hijacked a cart.
as the waitress appeared and asked for their orders will let miranda go first as he still hadn’t decided. ”i guess i’ll get the same, without the fries,” he nodded, deciding he would steal a few of the greasy fries from her. ”oh! and could i get a coors light?” he asked pulling out his i.d. since he was always asked for it. the waitress took it and examined it before handing it back and leaving. ”thanks,” he called before looking across the table to miranda. she was pretty, every guy could see that, but william was with amy, even if it would have to end soon because he was going back home after his winter break was over.
he began to sip the water that was in front of him as he waited for his beer. will chocked on his drink and began to cough to get it out of his throat as miranda asked about him and amy. he dreaded talking about amy with miranda. she was his friend and taking about his girlfriend with her always seemed so awkward and out of place. when his coughing finally settled down he sipped some more water, having the ice crush onto his face. ’we’re uh, good. strong,” he nodded, hoping that beer would come soon enough because he was in need of it.
after what seemed like forever the waitress came back with his bottle of beer and a cold glass, complete with a lime. he began to slowly poor his beer into the glass and squeezed the lime in before taking a sip. ”so how are you and- i mean, have you found anyone sparking your interests on the island?” will asked, changing the focus of the topic from him to her. he had to correct himself due to the fact that miranda wasn’t with anyone so he reworded his question.

. another one bites the dust . just sitting next to him she felt just at ease with everything that he said or did. she definitely was falling for him faster than she could imagine. "a sweet ride huh? you should definitely go ahead and take me on a joy ride." she said adding a wink as she went ahead to listen to him talk about amy.
at her question he seemed to choke on his answer. "sorry, that must not have been the right question to ask, are you okay?" she asked adding a little laugh at the end because of the faces he was making as he choked on his drink. they were going strong? ugh, this totally sucked. she just was waiting for the perfect moment and just when she thought things were going to tumble down hill slightly... no... he and amy were just peachy. lovely.
the waitress came and handed will his beer and their platters of food. she reached a hand over and stole his glass, taking a sip of his beer before handing it back to him. in exchange, she slid her plate over to him so he could share his fries with her. will then asked if she had found anyone who interested her.
at that exact moment she wanted to just admit that it was him and that he was the one that she had found comfort in and that he should not be with amy because she was the one for him and that she was the girl that could make him truly happy. "well... there is this one guy but he is dating this other girl and i am pretty sure that he does not know that i even exist. typical cliche huh?" she asked, stealing his beer glass again and taking a bigger sip. "i dont think males see me as interesting or the type of girl that is 'datable'."

”i’ll be sure to, as long as we don’t get caught.,” he smiled, as if to reply to her wink. ”there just might be one slight problem with that idea due to the fact i stole a golf cart from the hotel.” will laughed at how he was dumb to do that and would be getting in trouble, but he didn’t really care. he was on island time and vacation, nothing really mattered to him besides relaxing.
after will had his first sip of beer his friend reached over and stole it from his, taking a sip and then giving it back to him. ”ew cooties,” he joked as he took another sip of his beer.he looked down at his burger and began to take it apart, wiping off some of the sauce and adding more pepper, salt, and mustard. he then closed the top bun on top and bit into it. it was delicious. he bit in for another bit, wiping the sides of his mouth as the condiments got all over his face.
will didn’t really tell her the truth about him and amy. they weren’t growing too strong. they bickered often, he would be dumping her before he returned back to pepperdine, and they weren’t perfect for each other. the question was, why didn’t he just tell miranda all of this? he didn’t really know why, but for now he was going to keep it to himself before it all spilled out sooner or later.
will nodded sympathetically to her as she spoke about a guy who thought she was invisible. ”that sucks. you’re a great girl, you’ll find someone. why don’t you just put yourself out on a limb and confess your feelings to him? after all, the worst he could do is tell you he never wants to see you again,” he shrugged, giving her his best advice. he watched as she took his beer again and poured it down her throat, not taking any pauses. ”no more beer for you!” he joked, retrieving it from her and sipping it. he then snatched a fry and dipped it in a puddle of ketchup that was on her plate. he munched it down and reached for another since he had a weakness for fries.

. another one bites the dust . she was biting into her burger when will mentioned that he had stolen a golf cart and that it was no big deal. "nothing we can't wiggle our way out of of." she smirked as she went back to eating her burger as he confiscated the beer from her officially. she swallowed the meat and used a napkin to wipe her mouth slowly. "oh so we are playing that game are we now?" she teased, throwing her napkin at him from across the table, ready to duck if he aimed fire at her.
wills advice was good, but what would he say once miranda really told him that this 'guy' that she was referring too happened to be him. would he run away or would be crush her feelings or let her down gently? it was difficult to say knowing that will was such a great guy and they were wonderful friends since college.
"i dont think that is such a good idea because...." she began but then her words trailed off. it became extremely hot in the room and she just wanted this to be more romantic to give him an even bigger reason for him to choose her over amy. "considering well... it's you will." pretending to become fascinated with the bracelets on her wrist. "you are the one i like..." she smiled.

will caught the napkin being tossed at him in his fist as he handed it back to her. ”are you sure you really want to go against me?” he asked, giving her fair warning. he looked for some ammo and looked over at his water that came complete with a straw. slowly he pulled the straw out and set it down in front of him before shredding a piece of his napkin and rolling it up so it would fit inside the tube. he then pointed it toward miranda and pressed the tip of the straw to his lips, and spat the napkin through his spit-ball gun. he didn’t even care where it landed as he dropped his shooter and began to munch on his island burger with a sly smile.
furrowing his eyebrows at him, he didn’t get why it wouldn’t be a good idea. sure he never gave the best advice or anything but he thought that the stuff he gave miranda was good. at least, he would use it if he was in her situation. he listened to her speak and slowly set down his disheveled burger on its plate and slowly chewed the remains of the food that was in his mouth, barely swallowing it. "considering well... it's you will," she said to him. his eyes widened in disbelief while his jaw boned slightly. to say the least he was speechless, absolutely speechless.
”me?” he asked, still in complete and utter shock. will always thought of them as just friends, buddies to say the least. he thought she was great and he believed he had feelings for her, he just never shared them. there was a slight problem though, due to the fact he was currently in a relationship with amy. amy was nice and all, but he felt as if he had more of a bond with miranda. sighing, will began to speak. ”miranda, i’m with amy,” he muttered, reaching across the table and holding her free hand in his own. they fit together perfectly, like his hand was meant to be there. he rubbed his thumb on her smooth hand as he gazed into her brown eyes, wondering what he was going to do. break up with amy to be with miranda? he had to breakup with amy at one point or another, but he never thought it would be for another girl. ”i like you too,” he smiled. and he really meant it, he really liked her.

. another one bites the dust . the words has just flowed out of her. she had no idea that what she was going to say was going to really come out in that exact way. she had spent many hours preparing for this exact moment but she had just disregarded everything and went with the flow, but she did not regret her words, they were out there in the open now and the awkward tension somehow just... vanished.
will reached his hand across the table to grab hers and she immediately jumped at his touch but looked at their two hands holding one another, she had been wanting this for nearly a year and now his hand was on hers and it was as if he was not holding back from his true emotions either. "i like you too." he said and the words just made miranda's heart melt under the pressure. "wow, that did not happen as I had planned." letting out a sigh.
"well I am glad to know that the guy I like, knows that I exist." giving his hand a small squeeze. her hazel eyes surveyed his entire body and the exact atmosphere around her. this was the moment she was sure to remember forever. "so what about amy, can we keep seeing each other or do you want to break the news to her first?" she asked, a puzzled look on her face.
"because I was hoping that we could possibly go out and do something tonight?" she asked.

he chuckled when she said that didn’t go as planned. didn’t she know? nothing went as planned anymore, the world was full of surprises. will felt her hand jump, but slowly he felt her hand relax more and gave him a tight squeeze. ”miranda,” he said calmly, ”i’ve always known you’ve existed.”
stomach lurching as he said those words, with his free hand he reached for his beer and took a smile sip, offering some to miranda since he had snatched it away before. he still didn’t know what he was going to do about amy. if she found out she would be furious and break up with him, but maybe that was what will needed. if she broke up with him he was free to be with miranda, even if he got stuck with the nickname “cheater.” it would be worth it if things worked with the brunette who was sitting across the table.
biting his bottom lip, will shifted in his seat. what was he going to do about this? ”i would love to go on a date with you tonight,” he smiled, hoping that would be satisfying as an answer. ”but, we need this to be low key,” he warned, not wanting amy to find out until the time was right. life was always too challenging with him and he was always between a rock and a hard place. why couldn’t his life be easier and only have one girl liking him at a time?
”can i kiss you?” he asked stupidly, beginning to lean in.

. another one bites the dust . was she floating on cloud nine because at this exact moment she could not have been happier. even when she got her first pair of heels... nothing ever came close to that and this was definitely a moment that beat the heels by far. yes, this by far was the best it had ever been and she would remember this moment forever.
"I can definitely keep low key for you." adding a hearty smile. his situation was confusing and she knew she was not making his position easier but it was not like she could argue with anything going on. everyone on the island had known that amy and will were destined to break up, the two just did not have any romantic chemistry and when miranda heard that she did not waste any time intercepting their little love game to get her man.
"can I kiss you?" he asked which made miranda laugh as he leaned in. "nope." she said reaching a hand out to stop his face from leaning in any farther. she slid out of the booth and went over to his side, sitting right next to him. "let me...." as she reached a hand up to his right cheek as she pulled his lips down towards hers, lingering there a soft slow kiss. she just wanted this moment to end forever.
she took a small breathe but kissed him again, there were just sparks tingling throughout her entire body. if she was going to feel like this every time she kissed, she was definitely looking forward to future hook ups indeed with this man considering he was partially hers... soon enough to be hers fully.

”well good, i’m counting on that. i’m going to end things with her soon, just give me time.” he spoke softly and slowly, wanting her to hear every word he was saying. ”everyone on the island knows that amy and i are dating so anyone can snitch,” he warned, looking around the restaurant to only see older couples who paid no attention to gossip. ”i think we’re safe here,” he said as if he was a spy on a mission. he may be a guest at the hotel, but he had been there for a bit to identify some of the locals who knew about him and amy. he looked around the restaurant once more and saw no one he had even seen before so he knew no one would start a gossip column on him.
the thing was, he just didn’t understand why she didn’t tell him sooner that she liked him, like before he started to date miranda. they had been dating for years, she could have told him, but then again, he could have too. the sides of his lips curled into a smile as he looked at her, wondering how he could be so lucky to meet her.
her hand pressed against his forehead to stop the kiss as he was about to speak but her movements stopped him. will was puzzled, since she had confessed feelings for him so he thought a kiss would be alright. he didn’t even blink as he watched her slide out of the booth and he was about to call out don’t go! but just as he was about to speak he let her slide into the booth where he was sitting and smirk. ”you’re full of surprises aren’t you?” he chucked, then becoming serious as she said ”let me.”
feeling her delicate hand touch his cheek lightly warmed his skin. he pushed a lock of her hair out of way of her eyes so he could admire them for a split second as will leaned in, batting his eyes closed as his lips pressed to hers, the kiss slowly growing more and more. he let a brief smile appear on his lips as he kissed her. he had always wondered watch it would feel like, watch it would taste like; words couldn’t even describe it. there wasn’t even enough clichés in the book to explain their kiss. it was perfect, like he had never been kissed before. he wasn’t going to make out with her hardcore in public, so this was a nice settlement. if only he had opened his eyes sooner and had seen her.

. another one bites the dust . will did not object to their kisses as she saw him smile just ever so slightly. her stomached was in knots as her heart fluttered. she was definitely a romance freak but this definitely was as romantic as it could get and as romantic as she wanted it to get. sadly she pulled the kiss away but let her face still linger closely to his before letting her hand drop from his face.
"remember... low key." she teased, running her fingers through her hair, listening to her turquoise rings hit one another. "so why dont we skip the stolen golf cart joy ride and I'll text you with tonights plans?" she asked turning to face him for her departure. "I will see you tonight." as she leaned in and gently kissed his lips again before standing up and giving him a small wave.
he had said down low, and if they exited the restaurant together, people would know something was up so why not pretend that they thought neither existed and that was exactly what miranada's plan was until he told amy it was over.
